NANOPARTICLE SYNTHESIS
August to December 2017
PROJECT DETAILS
After months of research, significant progress has been made. We have learned much on how microfluidic devices can be used in the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. With funding from the Walter-Maxwell Gibson Research Fellowship funding we had enough money for supplies to carry out the project. Some of the key things we discovered is the effects of nanoparticle degradation. As time goes on, the strength of the binding ligand weakens and the nanoparticles all break down to a single sized particle. As we have more efficiency in the biding ligand the nanoparticles produced have a few different shapes and sizes. It was a rewarding experience to overcome challenges and learn something new.
